Clingendael Academy and the Institute of Diplomatic Studies sign cooperation agreement
On May 7, 2012, Mr. Ron Ton, Director of the Clingendael Academy – responsible for the Diplomatic Training Program - and Mr. Abdulkarim H. Al Dekhayel, General Director of the Institute of Diplomatic Studies, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between both institutes. The Dutch Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Mr Ron Strikker, attended the ceremony.
The MOU envisages to foster the relationship by the organization seminars, roundtables and other ways to exchange views but also provides for diplomatic training courses to be given to in particular young diplomats. In 2013 the first group of young diplomats from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia could go to Clingendael in the Netherlands.
The Clingendael Institute provides training programs to diplomats of a wide range of countries and has longstanding experience in this area. It also conducts in-depth scientific research in the field of international relations and has a world class reputation. The institute is located in The Hague, as the third largest city in the Netherlands often called the legal capital of the world due to its numerous legal bodies – courts, tribunals etc. – established there.
