WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT VISA FOR AND RESIDENCE IN THE NETHERLANDS

□       All kind of visa can only be issued for a maximum stay of 90 days. For stay in the The Netherlands longer than 90 days you need a resident permit.

□       Companions of students are not eligible for a resident permit. Their visa can maximum be valid for a stay of 90 days (3 months) in every 6 months. The companion can choose to stay 3 months continuously or with intervals during the 6 months, however not in any case exceeding a stay of 90 days. Please see website at  www.holland.org.sa for visa requirements and procedure for companions.

□       As student staying in The Netherlands longer than 3 months your university should ask permission (advise) from the Dutch Immigration Service (IND) for you to apply for the entry visa (MVV) to stay in the Netherlands as resident.

□       The Dutch Immigration Service will send the approval for your entry visa for residence to the embassy in Riyadh.

□       The Netherlands embassy in Riyadh will contact you by phone or email to notify you that your MVV has been approved and when you should come to the embassy to apply in person for the visa. Please check your email regularly. You should bring: your passport; two passport photos; COMPLETED application form and a copy of your scholarship certificate of MOHE.

□       The visa you will apply for will be a combined visa: an entry visa to the Netherlands for residence (D) + a Schengen visa (C), this combination is called the D+C visa.

□       This combination visa will take 10 - 14 calender days to be approved from all the Schengen countries. But not less than 10 days!

□       The embassy will notify you by phone or email that your visa has been approved by the Schengen countries and will notify you when you should come finally to collect your passport with the D+C visa.

□       It is possible to authorize someone else to collect your passport with the visa.

Legalization of documents

□       Prior to your MVV application, you must legalize your birth certificate by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and finally by the Netherlands embassy in

Riyadh.

□       To do this you need the following :

-         the original birth certificate to be legalized from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;

OR

a copy of the original birth certificate to be legalize from the Ministry of Interior (ahwaal almadaniyah for true copy) then from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (In this case you should show the original certificate to the embassy).

-         a translation of the birth certificate to the English language;

-         You can send these documents by courier or bring it yourself to the embassy in

     Riyadh

□       Legalizations can be submitted any working day between 10.00 – 11.30 hr. without appointment. However, this is only possible as from tomorrow until 3rd of December 2008.  After that documents should be submitted for legalization per appointment which might delay the submission of your visa application at the Dutch Immigration Service. For appointments you can call the Visa Line on this number: +966 1 488 79 47 any working day between 13.00 – 14.00 hr.

- 09.00 – 11.45 hr            for visa applications as per appointment

- 10.00 – 11.30 hr           for submitting missing documents or passport                  withdrawal during the process without appointment

- 13.00 – 14.00 hr            Appointments for legalizations if submitted later 

- 14.00 – 15.00 hr            for consular inquiries only by phone

- 15.00 – 15.30 hr            collection of passport with visa
